These 2 storys came from the idea of the real life toy story but with an action man.

ActionMan on a hunt

A actionman with a bow and arrow comes alive and moves around to find the beast dog to hunt down and kill.

He’s crouching and climbing around the house searching.

Ill do it with a mix of video and stop motion.

He wakes up on a table next to his bow and gets up and grabs it and puts it over his back.

He climbs down the table and goes into the next room and peeks around the corner and sees the beast dog lying there.

He climbs up to the sofa and lies down and moves towards the edge to peak over.

A close up to his face and he whispers “Score”.

He then stands up and gets his bow ready and shoots the arrow at the dog. He then jumps on top of the dog and shouts I AM THE KING”

 Action man gets robbed

A action man is walking along when a spartan comes out of nowhere and tackles him into the ground.
He then beats up the action man and robs his bow and arrows and runs away.
The action man get up off the ground and looks up, he an see the spartans den on a side and hes asleep.
The action man goes to the den and works out a way to get up there and climbs.
he finnaly get his bow back and lifts it in the air in triumph.
the sparten is sat up awake watching and he is very sad..... so he pushes the action man off the side to his death THE END

Evaluation Film

I had a list of different ideas and went for the real life toy story one.

My little brother just received an action man as a present and I thought about using that as the alive toy.

This then evolved into a story of him going on a hunt, but there was a problem with him firing the bow he came with so the story then changed.

I ended up creating a short 2 minute film of the action man who is robbed by a Spartan and he goes on a journey to get his bow and arrows back but the Spartan is very sad when he get his possessions back and kills him.

I have learnt many different techniques when doing this video unit and learnt more when working on my own video like ways to use camera angles to set a scene and working as the director to aid the camera man to get the shot right.

I had to edit the clips together and add audio, which I had not done in the other videos we did before, so I had to learn how to use it.

I knew some basics from what I’ve seen before like dragging and dropping music and clips into it but I had to learn how to crop clips and audio, Also I had to learn how to add in credits and text what could go over a clip and the last thing which I had used before was the transitions between the clips.

I am happy with certain parts of my short film, but there are areas where I am not happy and would like to do again, like some of the scenes near the beginning that came out dark. It came out dark in the first place and we did rerecord them with the light on, they did then look fine at that time on the camera but once on the computer it looked dark again. At that time it was to late to record and was a lesson to late that you should always record multiple time even if it looked fine.

I would also like to re record the scenes that my arm or hand shown but it came out ok as it added a bit of humour to it.

The rest of it I’m happy with like the music, lighting, angles and the editing I did and had a good response when I showed the short film to other people.

I think the best ways I could do this film better is just to do allot more shots of each scene so there is more outcomes to choose within the editing to get a better outcome in the end.

The second would be to make sure all the lighting is right so the viewer can see the scenes and what’s happening

Make sure there no parts of my body are shown so there’s only the action man.

The last thing is to spend more time recording as there was a problem on the original day I was supposed to record as Scott was sick so we had to do it the day before and had less time to do the recording or else I would of liked to make the animation better and probably do it in stop motion.

Why is her work topical?

it is an interesting topic about our nature and the problems and beauties within it which can easily be related to by many people in allot of different forms that can be just as personal.

What ideas, both through form and content, are they exploring? 

She is exploring personal stuff that has been part of an on-going project for many years. She looks into anatomy, mechanics and moods of the body, and measurement. she also likes to express personal philosophies such as obsessions, state of mind and emotions within her work.

What techniques were employed to produce the selected work? 

She uses a few different techniques within her work especially photographed images of objects and people, she then likes to take scanned images and then edits them all together on photoshop. She also does work on Still life were its all mainly edited photography pictures through photoshop.

How does their work relate to traditional art forms or the works of earlier artists? 

Her work most relates to surrealism and collages but she also does allot with still life and photography. Within some of her work you can notice how she has mixed these forms together.

How does it define, critique, or embrace the future? 

I think her work defines what human life is from our bodys to emotions and how the mind works.

Do you respond (or NOT respond) to its content, its construction, its aesthetics, or its storyline?

I dont really respond to the type of content she is exploring but i do like some of the techniques she uses within here like the skeletons and muscles within a image of a person and the way it has been made to look like an Xray

I have made two different collages based around books.

One about the imagination of books which are grown from trees, I made it look a bit faded and not perfect to show that when reading the image in the imagination is not clear or perfect but blurry and doesn’t last long.

The second is a shelf with books on but their books what stand out in different colours from the rest that relate to the big franchised books in real life. I have kept the rest around it simple with I nice colour in the background with overlaid circles and a text at the bottom saying read.

I have not learnt much from doing these collages other than recourses are important and how to take your own taken photos and edit them into the work in different ways other than drag and drop. I used overlay, darken, multiply and the rubber tool with so much opacity to get a fading look.

I chose this idea of books and imagination as I love to read allot and I found the idea interesting. These collages especially the one about imagination show how I feel when reading books and the shelf is me saying you should read as there are allot of great story’s and worlds to discover.

                                        

I am happy with the outcome as my work but I could definatly make them both better with more time after learning the new skills I have.

I think I have done a good job of bringing out my original ideas with making a few changes that felt did it an improvement of what I was thinking.

I have used the images taken as well as my drawn images well within my collages with a good mix of everything in one and of them and the second being nice and simple.

I think in both collages I have used good colours that work well together within the piece. Also how I overlaid and blended them colours with the background and other images.

I would like to if I had a second chance to make them, I would bring out certain areas a bit more like the books or drawn objects, I would also like to create more drawn objects to bring to the collages so I could use different objects in each collage.

I also would like to work on the background more with my tree piece if I did it a second time and add in different pictures and blend them better together than I did.
